Karachi Launches Rs14bn DHA Water Project to Supply 10 Million Gallons Daily

Karachi has launched a major water supply project aimed at providing an additional 10 million gallons of water per day to DHA and Clifton through a dedicated pipeline from Dumlottee.

Karachi has launched a major water supply project aimed at providing an additional 10 million gallons of water per day (MGD) to Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Clifton and adjoining areas through a dedicated pipeline from Dumlottee.

Speaking about the project, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab said the initiative would help address the long-standing water shortage faced by residents of DHA and surrounding localities.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) have signed an agreement for construction of the dedicated pipeline. The revised project cost has been reported at approximately Rs14.237 billion, following approval by the Sindh cabinet.

Wahab said that once completed, the new system would deliver additional water directly to Defence and Clifton, improving the reliability of water supply for residential areas.

According to officially reported project timelines, construction is targeted for completion within approximately 12 months.

The project is being presented as part of broader efforts to strengthen Karachi’s water infrastructure and reduce chronic shortages in areas that have long depended heavily on alternative water supplies.
