International wildlife experts have been brought in to assess and treat Madhubala and Malika, the elephants housed at Karachi Safari Park, as authorities seek specialised medical care amid concerns over Madhubala’s deteriorating health.
Dr Amir Khalil of FOUR PAWS, an international animal welfare organisation, carried out a detailed examination of Madhubala, while Sri Lankan wildlife veterinarian Dr Buddhika Bandara has also been involved in the specialist medical assessment. Dawn

Dr Khalil said Madhubala had shown some improvement and was now able to stand and walk, offering hope for her recovery. However, problems affecting her hind leg and significant weight loss remain serious concerns. Dawn
Madhubala has faced recurring health problems in recent weeks, including difficulty walking and repeated episodes of weakness. Local veterinarians had been unable to establish the complete cause of her continuing health crisis, prompting authorities to seek international expertise. Dawn
The specialists will use the results of the medical examinations to prepare a further treatment and rehabilitation plan for the elephants.
