Ahsanabad Family Deaths: Five Laid to Rest in Karachi as Doctor’s Brother Reveals Years-Long Family Estrangement

KARACHI: Funeral prayers and burial rites have been completed for the five members of a family who were found dead inside their residence in Karachi’s Ahsanabad area, as a close relative disclosed that the deceased doctor had remained out of contact with his family for many years.

The funeral prayers for Dr Umar, his wife and their three children were offered in New Karachi, where they were later buried at a local graveyard.

Speaking after the burial, Dr Umar’s brother, Abu Bakar, said the family had not been in regular contact with him for several years due to longstanding family disputes.

According to Abu Bakar, communication with Dr Umar had largely ended after his marriage.

“We had no contact with him after his marriage and did not even know how many children he had,” he said, while explaining the extent of the estrangement between the two sides of the family.

He added that family disagreements had led to the breakdown in relations and that contact had remained severed for a prolonged period.

Family Decides on Burial in Karachi

Abu Bakar said the family decided, after consultation, to conduct the burial in Karachi because of the condition of the bodies.

The five members of the family had earlier been found dead inside their home in Ahsanabad, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Authorities have been examining medical, forensic and circumstantial evidence in the case. The exact cause of death has not yet been conclusively established, with investigators awaiting final forensic and chemical examination findings.

The investigation remains ongoing
