US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of a severe response if investigators establish Tehran’s involvement in the Flydubai FZ1073 incident, though no evidence of an Iranian link has yet been confirmed.
US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of a “very hard” response if investigators determine that Tehran was involved in the dramatic incident aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said authorities were examining whether Iran had any connection to the incident and that, based on information reaching him, he was not ruling out such a possibility. However, the president did not publicly provide evidence supporting an Iranian link.
The incident involved a Flydubai co-pilot who allegedly attacked the captain during the flight before the aircraft entered a steep descent. Passengers and other crew members eventually helped subdue the suspect, while reserve pilots took control and safely diverted the aircraft to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
Investigators from several countries are examining the circumstances and motive behind the incident.
According to Reuters, Israeli security officials had found no indication of Iranian involvement as of October 2, and the investigation remained ongoing. Authorities have also been examining whether the incident was connected to extremist ideology or another motive.
Reports and speculation about possible Iranian connections therefore remain unverified, and no official investigation has established that Tehran directed or supported the incident.
The case continues to draw international attention as authorities investigate both the alleged attack and possible weaknesses in airline crew security procedures.
