The Sindh Cabinet has extended the tenure of the judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza case, allowing Justice Omar Sial to continue proceedings and complete the inquiry.
The judicial commission investigating the Mir Raza case is set to continue its proceedings after the Sindh Cabinet approved an extension in its tenure.
The commission, headed by Sindh High Court Justice Omar Sial, held a meeting in his chamber where Javed Ahmed Abro, Additional Secretary Home and focal person for the Sindh government, appeared before the commission.
Abro informed Justice Sial that the provincial cabinet had approved an extension of the commission’s tenure until October 15, allowing it to resume and complete its ongoing inquiry.
The Sindh Cabinet has also authorised Justice Sial to continue the inquiry beyond the extended deadline if additional time is required, meaning fresh cabinet approval would not be necessary for a further extension.
A formal notification regarding the extension is expected to be issued by the provincial authorities.
The commission was constituted to examine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death, assess the handling of the investigation and determine whether there was any negligence or misconduct during the initial probe.
