Police have registered a case after 59 women were allegedly lured to a Gadap farmhouse with job offers and had their mobile phones taken during a purported interview process.
Police in Karachi have registered a case over an alleged job interview scam in Gadap, where mobile phones belonging to 59 women were reportedly taken after they were invited to a farmhouse for employment opportunities.
According to the FIR, the complainant was offered work at a 25-day event with a daily payment of Rs2,000. Women from different parts of Karachi were subsequently transported to Ansari Meadows farmhouse for what they were told would be a job-related interview.
During the process, the alleged organisers reportedly asked the candidates to hand over their mobile phones, claiming that phone use would not be permitted during the interviews.
The FIR states that after collecting the devices, a man allegedly fled the venue on a motorcycle with the mobile phones. The affected women later contacted police and reported the incident.
Police have registered the case under provisions relating to theft, cheating and common intention and have launched an investigation to identify those involved and recover the stolen devices.
Investigators are also examining how the alleged job offer was organised and whether other individuals were involved in bringing the women to the farmhouse.
